What is a Chimichurri you ask? Well it's not the sauce from Argentina some of you may know about . Imagine a soft bun, a patty, grilled tomatoes and onions, cabbage and dollops of mayonnaise and ketchup. It's messy, greasy, and one of the tastiest things you'll ever have. Simply put, it's a Dominican hamburger. But what a burger it is! Here is my attempt to make a healthier version of this amazing burger.
Ingredients:
- 4 hamburger buns
- 2 lbs ground turkey
- 1/2 tsp crushed garlic
- 1 large onion cut into rings
- 1 large onion cut into small cubes
- 2 large tomatoes cut into slices
- 2 cups shredded cabbage
- 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp oil
- salt and pepper
- oregano
- ketchup
- mayonnaise
- Mix meat, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion cubes, and add a pinch of salt, a pinch of oregano, and a pinch of pepper. Divide meat into 4 patties. Brush a frying pan with the oil and heat. Cook the patties, rotating until well done.
- Briefly grill tomatoes and onion rings. Turn down the heat and briefly cook the cabbage. Reapply some oil to the pan and warm up the bread.
- Mix ketchup and mayonnaise (fry sauce as it's called in the west).
- Assemble the hamburger and garnish with ketchup and mayonnaise.

I had these and... OMG! Best burger-like-food-product ever!
I will have to try that! What I want is some Dominican habichuelas con arroz, like I used to have at your house in NY! Can you give me a recipe for that? I would love to attempt to make it! I'm so glad you joined the blogging world!
